The Steed Home Shadowbox: This shadowbox was donated by the family in honor of the John Joel Steed home at 125 S. Main Street in Farmington, Utah. The house was built in 1847 and was removed in 2011 for new construction. The shadowbox includes a photo of the home in its prime, images of family members who lived there over generations, a picture of the stained glass window also donated to the museum, an image of the tiled fireplace, and an original tile taken from the house before demolition. This piece shows how deeply families in Farmington feel connected to their homes. One of the museum’s largest ongoing projects is mapping historic houses in the city center and tracing the lives of the people who lived in them.
