1850S

Beginning in the late 1850s, 110 North Main Street in Farmington was the site of a small log cabin and tithing lot where pioneer midwife ‘Grandma’ Staniforth lived. She delivered hundreds of babies and worked among the hay, grain, and other tithing goods stored there. Latter-day Saints from the surrounding area brought their offerings to this site to be held and redistributed by the stake president, John W. Hess and his counselors throughout the Davis Stake (Hess 1976).
