In 1950, a sixth grade class in Farmington created a 103-page book titled History of Farmington Utah, guided by their teacher and principal, George Q. Knowlton. Working in editorial and art teams, students wrote essays on topics like agriculture, blacksmiths, mills, the Great Salt Lake, “Indian Annie,” and the history of the Primary, along with poems celebrating “our town Farmington.” They gathered stories from local residents, organized drawings and articles, and reflected on how much Mr. Knowlton encouraged and supervised their work. The finished binder offers a child’s-eye view of Farmington’s people, places, and memories at mid-century.
